Before we begin, I wanted to invite you to watch a YouTube video by the mega-popular high performance productivity coach Amy Landino called “If you want to reach your goals (and actually FEEL good), watch this.”
Next, here are a few short thoughts this week.
Money

“Try to do some BAD work — the worst you can think of and see what happens but mainly relax and let everything go to hell — you are not responsible for the world — you are only responsible for your work — so DO IT. And don’t think that your work has to conform to any preconceived form, idea or flavor.”
-From a letter written by the artist Sol LeWitt to the sculpter Eva Hesse
Health

“Is it not likely that when the country was new and men were often alone in the fields and the forest they got a sense of bigness outside themselves that has now in some way been lost.”
-From a letter written by the novelist Sherwood Anderson to the political activist Waldo Frank

Exercise adds years to your life.
Reading books adds like to your years.

Hard work wins in the gym. Plain and simple. There’s no cheating. A pound is a pound is a pound. You either lift or pull or squat or press or swing the thing or you don’t.

My son Calvin and I have been climbing trees every chance that we get. Up there, in the branches, we have the best time (and the best chats). Why is getting lost amongst the tangles so special. Perhaps, as Robert Moor writes, “Despite the inherent dangers, many children regard the branches of a tree as a haven rather than a terror, a realm apart from the terrestrial, adult world.” To that I’ll add that, perhaps, adults need this haven just as much as children, or more.
