5-Reps: Content burn out, bigger ambitions, and work-associated guilt

“The most industry experience per word on the web.”

Here’s what’s new this week.

Obvious Choice Podcast Episodes:

*If you only listen to one, make it this one.

Money

1.

The best method for getting testimonials: Institute a quarterly review process.

Hand your customers a paper with three questions:

  1. What’s one thing you’d like me to start doing?
  2. What’s one thing you’d like me to stop doing?
  3. What’s one thing you’d like me to keep doing?

Once you have their response, write a testimonial based on their answers and other info you know about them. Send it to them and ask for permission to use it.

2.

The bigger your ambitions are, the simpler your plan must be.

Accept the tradeoff that you can’t do everything. Choose you thing. Do it. And do it well.

Health

1.

The feeling of working out isn’t enjoyable to most. What is enjoyable is how they feel afterwards.

The confidence it gives you; how good you feel; the stability to your emotions it brings.

A useful prompt is to ask:

“How do I want to feel when this day is finished?”

The answer almost always can be achieved with a workout.

Relationships

1.

We often don’t spend enough time evaluating why things are on our calendars or if they’ve been properly designed in the first place.

Most of what we do we don’t really need to be doing, we’ve just been doing it for so long that it’s become a thing that we do, and we don’t ever think about whether it needs to actually be done.

2.

“The guilt I’m feeling for not working is because I have a kid. But my kid is literally the reason why I work.”

A Few Good Quotes from a Great Book

“Internet culture has long called this The 1% Rule. This means that on any given social media platform or website where users can participate, 1% of the users create the content, 9% of the users curate, organize, and update the content, and 90% of the users consume the content.”

“How you build your audience and who’s in it determines how you ultimately monetize that audience.”
