Before we begin, I wanted to invite you to attend a (free) live workshop on habits I’m co-hosting alongside Mike Michalowicz and Michael Bungay Stanier on June 1st at 7pm EST. Here’s the link with info. Hope you can make it.
Next, a few weeks ago I deleted all social media apps off of my phone.
It’s taken me four months to build a system and team to create and publish content that doesn’t require my constant attention.
Month 1 increased my views by over 5 million. I’m publishing to FB, IG, LinkedIn, Threads, and X. But also, and mostly, I have more time and energy to be with my kids.
My thought leader buddies asked how I did it. So I delivered the system to them in a presentation.
I recorded it, and wanted to share it with you.
It’s about 30 minutes long. Free to watch. Hope it helps you:

And finally, here are a few short thoughts this week.
Money

“There’s a wonky misconception that you have to first get famous online in order to be a success. It’s the opposite. The most straightforward path to becoming influential online, if that’s the goal, is to first do something meaningful. Social media success is most often a lagging, not leading, indicator of real-world impact.”
-From my book, The Obvious Choice: Timeless Lessons on Success, Profit, and Finding Your Way
Health
1
Most people don’t “want” to workout and eat healthy. They’ll say “oh, you’re different’. And that’s not true. I’m lazy. I like pie. Except cherry pie. Nobody likes cherry pie. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an ok pie. Like, if somebody put a cherry pie in front of me, I’d eat it. But, if given a choice of pie, it’d never be cherry.
The gym’s a punishment at first. You drag yourself there. But then something flips. Hard to pinpoint when. It stops being about fixing yourself and starts being about strengthening yourself and dealing with the chaos of the world.
Relationships

“if we worry about things we can’t control, we start to ruin the things we can control.”
-Matt Dinniman

People love the underdog because it makes them feel better about themselves. Gives them hope, maybe, but also helps them make excuses. Everybody’s in your corner until you succeed. Then they disappear.

Jesus of Nazareth was from, uhh, Nazareth. He was a carpenter. Then he left, recruited disciples, preached to the masses, performed miracles. The whole thing. A pretty big deal, even back then. He returned to Nazareth. Can you guess how the townspeople acted towards him?
They rejected him.
They couldn’t handle him acting like a teacher. Because, to them, he was just a carpenter’s son. Jesus finally said “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown.”

A few things or people I like and recommend
Bruce Mayhew and I met last summer and I immediately felt his thoughtful approach to leadership. His new book, The Path of an Inspired Leader, is a practical guide for leaders who want to build trust, belonging, and real performance. If you want to elevate how you lead, Bruce’s book is worth your time.
For authors who want to level up before hiring an editor… Professional editor Katie Chambers (who’s helped bring nearly 300 books to life) has created two hands-on guides to help writers strengthen their manuscripts before professional editing. Self-Editing Essentials for Fiction and Self-Editing Essentials for Non-Fiction are great resources.
